Embracing New Traditions: Creating Memories That Last

Traditions are powerful—they create memories that anchor us in the past and live on in the future. For years, our family had cherished Thanksgiving traditions, routines that shaped the holiday season and made it uniquely ours. But as our family dynamics evolved, some of those beloved traditions no longer worked.

Letting go of old traditions was hard. It felt like we were losing pieces of our history, and with them, the opportunity to pass those memories on to the children we are still raising. However, this bittersweet season opened the door to something beautiful: the chance to create new traditions.

For the past two years, our family has participated in a Thanksgiving fun run organized by our local Christian radio station, HOPE FM, and supported by so many generous businesses in our community. While not all of us ran the course, we walked the two miles together with our younger children, soaking in the shared joy and togetherness.

This new tradition has quickly become one of our favorites, replacing the old with just as much excitement and laughter. We’re so grateful to HOPE FM for giving our family this opportunity, and we look forward to building years of memories through this experience.

The beauty of traditions lies not in their permanence but in their ability to evolve, creating space for new memories and moments to cherish. What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving traditions, old or new?
