Fostering is a journey filled with joy, challenges, and the need for strong support. Many foster families start out with passion, but without a solid support system, they can quickly become overwhelmed. That’s where wraparound support comes in!
What if every foster family had a dedicated team—just four volunteers and one leader—committed to walking alongside them? This simple but powerful model helps families foster stronger and longer, ensuring that children in care receive the stability they desperately need.
The 4-1-1 Model: How It Works
Each foster family is paired with:
• 4 Volunteers who take on various supportive roles
• 1 Leader who coordinates and communicates
• 1 Foster Family receiving consistent, intentional support
Together, this team makes sure that each month the family receives:
1️⃣ Something Inspirational
Encouragement is fuel for the journey! This could be:
• A handwritten note or text message of appreciation
• A scripture or quote to uplift them
• A short devotional or podcast recommendation
• A coffee meetup where they can share victories and struggles
2️⃣ Something Relational
Foster parents often feel isolated. Intentional relationship-building can change that! Examples include:
• Inviting them for dinner or a playdate
• Offering a “parents’ night out” with trusted childcare
• Checking in with a quick call or visit
• Remembering birthdays and special occasions
3️⃣ Something Practical
Everyday life is busy—especially with foster children! Practical help might look like:
• Dropping off a meal or groceries
• Helping with household chores or yard work
• Providing transportation to appointments
• Offering tutoring or homework help for the kids
The Impact: Fostering Stronger, Longer
With this structured but flexible support system, foster parents don’t just survive—they thrive. They feel seen, valued, and strengthened to continue their calling. The children in their care benefit from a stable, loving environment, and the church community becomes actively engaged in pure and undefiled religion (James 1:27).
By implementing the 4-1-1 Wraparound Support Model, we can help foster families stay the course and make a lasting impact in the lives of vulnerable children.
Are you ready to be part of a wraparound team? One small act of support can make a huge difference!
