Course Description

Foster and adoptive parenting often brings unique challenges—especially when traditional discipline and motivation strategies don’t seem to work. What if the issue isn’t defiance, laziness, or lack of respect… but how your child is wired to respond to expectations?

In this course, based on The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin, you’ll learn how children (and adults) respond to expectations in four distinct ways: Upholder, Questioner, Obliger, and Rebel.

Through expert-guided conversations, you’ll discover:

  • Why some children resist even simple requests
  • How trauma impacts a child’s response to expectations
  • Practical strategies to motivate without triggering power struggles
  • How to adjust your parenting approach for each tendency

This course will equip you to parent with greater clarity, compassion, and effectiveness—helping you build trust, reduce conflict, and create a more peaceful home.
