Serving Children & Families Across the United States

The Simple Prayer of a Child

This past weekend was full from start to finish—but in the best kind of way.

Saturday morning came early as I had the opportunity to lead a workshop on trauma-sensitive parenting at the Replanted Conference in Jacksonville, Florida. Then Sunday, another early start, this time at Oceanway A/G, where I spent the day raising awareness and sharing hope with an incredible church community.

It was a meaningful weekend—connecting with passionate people, sharing the mission, and seeing hearts stirred for vulnerable children.

But what I didn’t expect… was that I would be the one so deeply impacted.

After speaking in “big church,” I had the chance to spend time with the kids, sharing about our missional work and how BGMC is helping change the lives of children across the nation. I moved from class to class, thanking them, answering their questions, and just enjoying their energy and curiosity.

Then, in the final class, something happened that I’ll carry with me for a long time.

They gathered around me.

And they prayed.

Simple prayers. Honest prayers. Childlike faith.

In a weekend filled with important conversations and meaningful moments, that time of prayer became the highlight. It wasn’t polished or complicated—but it was powerful. It touched something deep in my soul.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, for such is the kingdom of God.”

I think I understand that a little more now.

There’s something pure, sincere, and deeply moving about the faith of a child. No pretense. No striving. Just trust.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what we need to be reminded of.
