Some stories begin in places that feel impossible to survive.
This young woman—just 18 years old—has already faced more trauma than most people will ever endure. As a survivor of human trafficking, she spent her formative years trying to escape people and situations that were never safe. When she finally broke free, she found herself in the Hanford/Fresno area, homeless, pregnant, and alone, with nowhere to turn.
Her baby is due in January. She wants to prepare, to build stability, and to be the mother she never had. But even the simplest essentials—diapers, newborn clothing, and basic baby items—felt impossible to access while she tried to rebuild her life from the ground up.
She wasn’t asking for much.
She was hoping for a lifeline.
And that’s where a community began to step in.
Turntable: First to See Her Courage
Turntable Housing, a nonprofit dedicated to advocating for vulnerable youth and young adults, learned about her situation and refused to turn away. They saw her courage. They saw a young woman fighting to create a safe life for herself and her child.
Turntable began advocating for her—helping her stabilize and begin the process of reintegration. But they also understood something vital:
She needed more than material support. She needed people to walk with her.
So Turntable submitted a CarePortal request on her behalf—an invitation for the Church and community to step into her story.
The Chaplain Ted Network: Funding the First Step of Hope
When the request reached the Chaplain Ted Network, support moved quickly.
Here’s how the collaboration works:
- The Chaplain Ted Network provides the initial financial donation.
- Reality SF claims the funds through CarePortal, purchases the baby items, and delivers them.
- Reality SF also makes personal contact with the young woman—building a relationship, listening, and offering encouragement.
Your donation doesn’t just purchase goods. It helps create a meaningful human connection, showing her that she is seen, valued, and not alone.
Reality SF: Relationships Matter as Much as Goods
This week, Katherine and the Reality SF team will meet the young woman for the first time.
They will deliver essential baby items—but they will also spend time with her, offering encouragement and presence. Because sometimes a relationship matters more than the items themselves. Sometimes simply being seen, heard, and cared for is the gift that transforms a life.
Reality SF is showing her:
“You matter.”
“You are not alone.”
“You have people walking with you.”
This first meeting is not a conclusion.
It is the beginning of hope.
A Story Still Being Written
Her story is unfolding right now.
She is still seeking safety.
Still preparing for her baby.
Still healing from trauma that no teenager should ever endure.
But she is no longer walking this path alone.
Because Turntable raised the flag.
Because the Chaplain Ted Network gave.
Because Reality SF said, “We will show up in person.”
Because donors—people like you—believed she deserves a community that surrounds her with care, dignity, and support.
This is what compassion looks like when it becomes action.
This is how a community shows up for a life at risk.
This is what it means when we say:
Help is on the way.
