Trevor and Karen Booker
We are excited to introduce Trevor and Karen Booker, our newest Missionary Associates serving Central Florida through Assemblies of God U.S. Missions.
Married for 36 years, Trevor and Karen are the parents of three adult biological children, five adopted children, and proud grandparents to two grandchildren. Over the years, they have also opened their home to 73 foster children. Through decades of lived experience, they have witnessed firsthand a powerful truth:
Children in crisis need a village of love and support to truly thrive.
A Calling Rooted in Experience
For many years, Trevor and Karen have faithfully served the church by teaching Marriage and Parenting Enrichment ministries, walking alongside couples and families through seasons of growth, hardship, and healing. Along the way, one need became increasingly clear:
Churches and communities deeply desire to help foster and adoptive families—but often lack the training, mentorship, and practical resources needed to do so effectively and sustainably.
Rather than stepping back, Trevor and Karen leaned in.
Serving as Missionary Associates with Assemblies of God U.S. Missions
Trevor and Karen Booker are now serving as Missionary Associates with the Assemblies of God U.S. Missions, under the leadership of Chaplain Ted Stackpole.
They are answering God’s call to equip the Church to become that “village of love and support” for families caring for vulnerable children.
Their ministry is called Family Made Whole, and its mission is clear:
To strengthen and sustain foster families by providing essential support, practical training, and community-centered care.
Through Family Made Whole, Trevor and Karen help churches move beyond awareness to action—creating safe, informed, and compassionate communities where foster and adoptive families can thrive for the long haul.
What Is a Missionary Associate?
A Missionary Associate (MA) through Assemblies of God U.S. Missions is a structured missions role designed for individuals who sense a call to ministry and missions, but are not yet appointed as career or lifetime missionaries.
🌍 What a Missionary Associate Is
- A service role under U.S. Missions: Missionary Associates serve under the supervision of a nationally appointed U.S. missionary or approved ministry leader.
- Hands-on missions experience: MAs are actively involved in ministry—sharing the gospel, supporting outreach, discipleship, community engagement, and practical ministry work.
- Credentials not required: While some Missionary Associates hold Assemblies of God ministerial credentials, they are not required for this role.
📅 Term and Purpose
- A defined, short-term commitment: The role typically lasts up to three years, providing real-world ministry experience.
- Mentorship and discernment: This season allows for spiritual growth, leadership development, and discernment regarding long-term missionary service.
💼 Responsibilities and Structure
- Supervised ministry: Missionary Associates serve under experienced missionary leadership.
- Support-raised ministry: MAs raise financial support from individuals and churches they know personally, rather than broadly itinerating.
- Accountability and reporting: Missionary Associates submit regular ministry and financial reports through Assemblies of God U.S. Missions.
In short, the Missionary Associate role is a developmental missions pathway—a meaningful opportunity to serve, grow, and impact lives while being supported by the structure and accountability of U.S. Missions.
